Broadway quadruple threat and Bistro Award winner,
Robert Creighton, who recently starred as the title character in the critically lauded CAGNEY at the
York Theatre Company, brings an all new show, "Lucky In Love," to Metropolitan Room on Monday, February 8 at 7pm. Character actor, singer/dancer, award-winning writer Creighton is one of the busiest actors in the American Musical Theater. After breaking attendance records at the
York Theatre Company during its run from April through June 2015, CAGNEY, celebrating the famous tough-guy screen legend, is set for a spring 2016 transfer to a commercial off-Broadway run. Co-authored by Creighton,
Peter Colley and
Christopher McGovern, the musical had its World Premiere at
Florida Stage in March 2009, and went on to win the prestigious Carbonell Award for Best New Work. Creighton's other recent New York roles include the inebriated, scheming Durdles in the revival of The Mystery of Edwin Drood, his year-long role as the Purser (and understudy to
Joel Grey) in the Roundabout Theatre Company's Tony winning revival of Anything Goes, as well as Mike Mooney in Paint Your Wagon at Encores! and Angelo in Comedy of Errors in he 2013 season of Shakespeare in the Park.
Immediately following the CAGNEY run, Creighton played Igor in "Young Frankenstein" at Maine State Music Theatre. In October, he hosted Frank Sinatra at 100 at Symphony Space presented by Jonathan Schwartz. Other recent concert and cabaret appearances include an evening at 54 Below in September, a critically lauded appearance at the 25th Annual New York Cabaret Convention and Celebrating Adolph Green at 54 Below. Upcoming appearances include the annual charity event for Pulmonary Fibrosis, Broadway Belts, on Feb. 29th, and several concert appearances in Florida and Canada in February 2016.
A native of Canada, Creighton spent two years with the New York City Opera before Broadway welcomed him in 2003 with a role in Jackie Mason's Laughing Room Only. Since then, in addition to Drood and Anything Goes, he has appeared on Broadway in Chicago (Amos), Lion King (Timon), The Little Mermaid (Chef Louis), and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
Creighton's debut CD, titled Ain't We Got Fun! was released in 2012 on LML Music, produced and arranged by Georgia Stitt. Celebrating music of the early decades of the 20th Century, the CD has an authentic, vintage feel. It features auspicious guest artists: Tony Award and Oscar winner, JOEL GREY sings "Give My Regards to Broadway" and Tony Award nominee KATE BALDWIN, HEIDI BLICKENSTAFF and TITUSS BURGESS make appearances.
