On Monday, May 3, 7 pm, at New York's Joe's Pub at the Public Theater: The Canadian sibling songwriting team behind the boxing musical, Seeing Stars, which enjoyed a sold-out run at the New York Musical Theater Festival in October, is getting the royal treatment on May 3 when many of the brightest lights in New York's theater and jazz worlds come together at the Public Theater's Joe's Pub to perform highlights from the duo's songbook. The evening's singular line-up will include: three-time Tony Award nominee Kelli O'Hara (South Pacific, The Pajama Game, The Light in the Piazza), two-time Tony winner James Naughton (Chicago, City of Angels), jazz and Broadway great Lea DeLaria, Tony winner LaChanze (The Color Purple), Kevin Earley (A Tale of Two Cities, Seeing Stars), jazz and blues singer Catherine Russell (Paul Simon, David Bowie, Steely Dan), BETTY (Betty Rules, The L Word), Tyley Ross (East Village Opera Company, The Who's Tommy), Carolyn Leonhart (Steely Dan), Graham Rowat (Broadway's Guys and Dolls), singer-songwriters Jamie Leonhart and Greg Naughton, cabaret and jazz chanteuses Maggie Moore and Rikki Rumball, feisty cabaret spitfire Shelley McPherson, and a special appearance by The Palookas. Lyricist Jeff Breithaupt will emcee, while Composer Don Breithaupt will play piano and helm a Breithaupt Brothers House Band comprising Mark McLean (drums), Steve Watson (bass), Tony Salvatore (guitar), and Steely Dan's Michael Leonhart (trumpet).

The Breithaupt Brothers' songs have been featured on Showtime's The L Word and have been recorded by Brent Carver, Dione Taylor, Adi Braun, Rikki Rumball, Denzal Sinclaire, Joe Coughlin, and Lorraine Lawson. Don was honored with a 2009 Emmy Award for outstanding theme song for the Canadian television show 6teen (Cartoon Network). The Breithaupt Brothers wrote the songs for Seeing Stars (book by Shelley McPherson), an original "boxing musical" set in the rich milieu of 1930s New York (Hell's Kitchen): the musical was read in February 2009 as part of the York Theatre's Development Reading Series and enjoyed a sold-out run in October 2009 as one of 12 double blind-juried "Next Link" shows at the New York Musical Theater Festival. In January 2010, the Breithaupt Brothers debut recording, Toronto Sings the Breithaupt Brothers Songbook, was released. Past performers of the Breithaupt Brothers Songbook include Tony Award-winner Brent Carver, Norm Lewis, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Denzal Sinclaire, Rebecca Martin, Adam Brazier, Sarah Slean, Patricia O'Callaghan, and Grammy nominee Kate McGarry, among many others.
