Michael Lanning, Alison Lory, and Sam Sherwood Bring 'THOSE WERE THE DAYS' to 54 Below Tonight

54 BELOW, Broadway's Supper Club, presents Michael Lanning, Alison Lory, and Sam Sherwood in "Those Were the Days, A Music Celebration of the '60s tonight, September 26th at 9:30pm. Relive and discover the timeless music of '60s music legends such as The Mamas and the Papas, Woody Guthrie, Peter, Paul and Mary, Bpb Dylan and The Beatles in this powerful concert event. These artists spent their years communicating personal, political, and social imperatives by way of the impeccably crafted songs, harmonies, lyrics with humor and passion. Back by popular demand, join Broadway singer-actors and recording artists Michael Lanning (Civil War, Bonnie and Clyde) Alison Lory (The Scarlet Pimpernel, Carnegie Hall), and Sam Sherwood (Bernstein: A Celebration, Carnegie Hall) singing in harmony poetic songs including, "Turn Turn Turn (To Everything There is a Season)", "Dream a Little Dream of Me" and "Puff the Magic Dragon." Audience participation encouraged but not necessary.

Michael Lanning began performing in theatre at the age of nine. With an extensive background and training in music and theatre, Michael has been a featured performer in many theatre companies including San Bernardino Civic Light Opera and the legendary Summer Stock, Junior University. Michael has recorded and/or toured with such musical greats as Donovan, Fleetwood Mac, Rockpile, Larry Gatlin, Frank Wildhorn, Mike Post and George Harrison. Michael's band, Jiva, was the first American band signed to the Harrison label, Dark Horse Records, with George serving as their executive producer.

Michael's distinctive, yet versatile, style made him a top session vocalist for national television and radio commercials for over a decade. Commercial jingles include the national spots-- "Heartbeat Of America, Chevy truck"," Snickers, There's A Hunger Inside You", "We Build Excitement, Pontiac", "Honda, Come Ride", "Sizzler, sounds good", " Hamm's Beer, Leave the grind behind", just to name a few. As an actor and a singer his credits include Steven Bochco's "Coprock", Wayne's World, "ER", "Thunder In Paradise" and "Baywatch."

A songwriter and a music publisher, Lanningsongs have been recorded by producer/guitar legend Dave Edmunds, The Stray Cats, French recording star Slyvie Vartan and many others. As a musician, Michael has mastered guitar, bass, mandolin, banjo, drums and percussion, and, is a hunt and peck pianist. Sorry, Mom.

Michael starred in both the Tony nominated Broadway and National Tour Productions of composer Frank Wildhorn's The Civil War. He played Dozer in the World Premiere Musical Mask at The Pasadena Playhouse, based on the motion picture starring Cher. He was featured as the Preacher in the World Premiere Musical Bonnie And Clyde at The La Lolla Playhouse in the winter of '09 and at The Asolo Theatre in Sarasota, Fla. in the winter of '10, and on Broadway at The Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre in 2011. He was also a featured vocalist for six years with The Trans-Siberian Orchestra and was introduced as "The most soulful white man on the planet".

Alison Lory is enjoying a career that started in New Jersey at The McCarter Theater. She made her Broadway Debut in the original cast of the Tony nominated musical "The Scarlet Pimpernel" (1.0 and 2.0). Originally trained as a coloratura soprano by the legendary Marni Nixon, and the late Dodi Protero (Juilliard), Alison has sung on stages including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Town Hall and debuted her solo show "Distant Melody" to high industry praise at the Laurie Beechman Theater. She has a firm grasp on the contemporary Pop/Folk genre having performed and recorded with luminary artists from NYC, LA and Nashville. An actress by education and trade, in addition to her musical career, she has performed in numerous straight plays and comedies ranging from Neil Simon to Shakespeare and new works in development. Sam Sherwood As an actor and a musician, Sam Sherwood has performed all over North America. Originally from the small town of Naples, NY in the Finger Lakes, Sam's lived in New York City for the past 5 years. In that time, he's performed at Carnegie Hall, Symphony Space, 54 Below and others. Regionally, Sam's performed at Flat Rock Playhouse, Phoenix Theatre, Peterborough Players, Lyceum Theatre (Arrow Rock), Adirondack Theatre Festival and others, as well as 2 national tours.
