The great Marilyn Maye is adding two shows to her annual run of "Marilyn by Request" at the Metropolitan Room," Thursday January 19 and Saturday January 21, both at 7pm. She was scheduled to play through tomorrow, Saturday January 14.

Maye, who did back-to-back shows on New Year's Eve, started her 7-night run of the hard-partying "Marilyn By Request" shows on January 5. Now with demand for tickets still rising, two shows have been added.

For "Marilyn By Request," Maye incorporates audience requests into a set that is different every night. Her world-class trio consists of pianist/conductor Billy Stritch, bassist Tom Hubbard, and drummer Eric Halvorson.

This has been Maye's 17th Metropolitan Room engagement since a historic one-night-only appearance helped inaugurate the club (in October 2006). She ended a 15-year hiatus from performing in New York with this and her first extended run at the club in March of 2007. Since then Maye has won every award and, best of all, electrified a whole new generation by introducing them to a free-wheeling American nightclub performance style.

Maye holds the singers' record for appearances -- 76 -- on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. She was a "Best New Artist" Grammy nominee in 1965, and the raves just keep pouring in.

The "By Request" shows have a hard-to-resist music charge of only $45 per person. There is a $25 food and drink minimum. For information, or to order online, visit www.metropolitanroom.com or call 212/206-0440. The Metropolitan Room, 34 West 22nd Street, celebrates its 11th anniversary in May.
