Marilyn Maye, Adam Pascal, Caissie Levy and More Set for 54 Below, Now thru 3/10

Coming up this week, 54 BELOW, the performance venue located just below the legendary Studio 54 at 254 West 54th Street, presents some of the brightest stars from Broadway, cabaret, jazz and beyond. 54 Below also launches its new series of late night events this March. Joining Tuesday nights' popular "Backstage" with Susie Mosher will be the "54 Piano Bar," a new vocal competition - "The Callback," and more, including Telly Award winner Jamie deRoy & Friends, Broadway star Chester Gregory, singing sensation Marilyn Maye, Late Night at 54 Below, Tony nominee Adam Pascale, actor/screenwriter/playwright Charles Busch, Broadway's Caissie Levy, Walking the Line - Music of Johnny Cash.

Jamie deRoy & FRIENDS, Mar. 4 at 7PM:
Jamie's back at 54 with special guests Larry Gatlin, Tonya Pinkins, Lewis Cleale, Daisy Jopling, and Cory Kahaney! Jamie deRoy & Friends has been thrilling New York City audiences for the past 22 years and serves as the basis for deRoy's award-winning cable television show. Directed by Barry Kleinbort, the show spotlights a wide variety of well-known entertainers and newcomers lighting up the cabaret, theater and comedy worlds. Jamie is the recipient of eight MAC Awards, four BackStage Bistro Awards, ten Telly Awards and CaB Magazine's Lifetime Achievement Award for her extensive work on both stage and screen. BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND FOLLOWING HIS DAZZLING 54 BELOW DEBUT! Broadway knows him from his roles in Sister Act, Dreamgirls, Hairspray, Tarzan, Cry Baby, Shrek the Musical and many others, but this February, get up close and personal with Chester Gregory as he brings The Eve of Jackie to 54 Below. Directed by Ghost's Da'Vine Joy Randolph, The Eve of Jackie explores and celebrates the life of "Mr. Excitement," the late great entertainer Jackie Wilson. With Musical Direction by Rob Lewis, the show is co-written by Crystal Lucas-Perry and Chester himself. Also, look for a special appearance by the phenomenal Lillias White! Marilyn Maye, Mar. 5, 6 & 7 at 7PM, Mar. 8 & 9 at 8PM:
Johnny Carson called her "Super Singer" and presented her on his The Tonight Show a record-breaking 76 times! Stephen Holden of The New York Times calls her "the embodiment and summation of a brash, sock-it-to-'em nightclub tradition that runs from Garland through Bette Midler, and with jazz added." Rex Reed of The New York Observer calls her "the real deal, the surviving artist of the American popular singer." Infusing the rhythm and syncopation of the legendary jazz greats with the power and brashness of a Broadway belter, this legendary vocalist's MAYE-den Voyage at 54 Below will feature a program of jazz and Broadway standards not to be missed. BACKSTAGE, Mar. 5 at 10:30PM:
Each week, Broadway cast members and audiences alike gather to mix and mingle at 54 Below, Broadway's most intimate haunt, located in the heart of the theatre district. Musical Director Brad Simmons keeps the house jumping from the piano, while host Susie Mosher (the love child of Joanne Worley & Paul Lynde) guides the crowd through an evening of music, mayhem and full throttle belting. Special guests from hit Broadway shows drop in to perform and answer the question on everyone's minds, "what happened in each week to sing everything from Schwartz to Sondheim." You might even get up and sing yourself if you're feeling brave, or brave, or relax with a cocktail and some sliders - the night belongs to you! NPR had this to say "The best thing happening right now might just be the weekly Backstage. Charles Busch, Mar. 7 at 9:30PM:
BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND! Whether he's playing a Westchester housewife who's preparing her cabaret tribute to Edith Piaf, Cinderella's much maligned stepmother in the style of MildrEd Pierce, or the tough but warm-hearted owner of a speakeasy, performance legend Charles Busch continues to delight and redefine his craft as a master humorist, illusionist, and camp icon. The author of dozens of hit plays (Tale of the Allergist's Wife, Red Scare on Sunset, Flipping My Wig, Times Square Angel, Our Leading Lady, The Third Story, Die! Mommie! WALKING THE LINE- MUSIC OF Johnny Cash, Mar. 8 at 11PM:
Playing the most loved hits and some rare gems of the Johnny Cash songbook, while recreating the look, feel, and flow of a Johnny Cash concert, Walking the Line celebrates material from every decade of Cash's legendary career. If you love the music of Johnny Cash but never got to see him live, this is as real as a fan can get. And if you were lucky enough to see Cash live, you'll appreciate Walking the Line all the more when you see and hear this most accurate recreation.
