Once in a great while, an entertainer comes along with such fine vocal abilities and stage presence, she literally stops shows. Singer/songwriter Lucy Shropshire is that kind of performer. Lucy's musical roots were nurtured singing gospel, playing piano and organ for her church choir. After studying music and voice at the University of North Carolina, she performed in venues along the east coast; later moved west, performing in major venues in Reno, as well as singing with and for celebrities including Dizzy Gillespie eventually winning the Reno Area Music Award 1985 for "Best Jazz Vocalist". A year later, while in Bermuda Lucy wrote, and produced the song "Come Together World," which became the United Nations Song of Peace, winning first place in the United Nations Year Of Peace Songwriting Contest, beating out scores of entries from 12 countries. A few years later, she left Bermuda for Las Vegas, where she performed at most of the major showrooms and she played the lead in "Enter The Night". In 1996 she performed nightly and was the vocal coach for the large cast of 70 in "EFX" starring David Cassidy. While at the Golden Nugget, Lucy recorded a duet with Clint Holmes and performed nightly with his Show. She also performed with Mary Wilson (Original "Supremes") in "Sophisticated Ladies" featuring the Duke Ellington Orchestra. Recently Lucy re-located to New York City and has toured with a production of "Respect". She also starred in "Ain't Misbehavin" for the Two Rivers Theatre Company. She has also appeared on NBC TV "Today Show" and recently on the "Weekend Today" program. With more than a three octave vocal range, Lucy has her own unique style and presence, offering something fresh, new and exciting. Lucy Shropshire is a music lovers delight and an experience not to be missed.
