No one in their right mind would move to New York City without a job, contacts or money, in the middle of a recession, with a baby, right?

Except Natalie Arneson. She did that.

In this show she shares stories of early morning auditions despite being sleep-deprived (ever tried to sing a high C after wrestling a screaming baby all night?) how she and her husband tossed their daughter to each other across train platforms to avoid paying a sitter, and why, after multiple close calls and disappointments, she stayed in New York - had another baby - and kept stalking those Broadway callbacks.

With a set list ranging from musical theatre to jazz, Arneson gives us a humorous glimpse into the life of a young mom trying to make it in New York.

And why through it all, she kept singing.

Natalie graduated from the Guildford School of Acting in England with a BA in Musical Theatre. While overseas, she played Princess Jasmine opposite Britt Eklund and Issy van Randwick in the pantomime Aladdin, toured England and Germany as Cecily in The Importance of Being Earnest, and played Cunegonde in Candide. She has worked extensively in her native Houston, with credits at the Alley Theatre (A Christmas Carol, Much Ado About Nothing), Houston Grand Opera (Manon Lescaut, La Cenerentola), Arneson Productions (Side Show), Bayou City Concert Musicals (Follies, Fiorello), Houston Shakespeare Festival (The Tempest), Main Street Theater (Nine, Lady in the Dark), among others. In NYC she has been featured at The Metropolitan Room, Playhouse Creatures, The Green Room, The Iguana Lounge, MCC's Fresh Play Festival, and Voices United.

Mama Drama will be presented at The Metropolitan Room, 34 West 22nd St, NYC 10010, on October 25 at 1:00. Directed by Michael Schwartz. Music direction by Tracy Stark. Featuring Skip Ward on bass, Jeffrey Roberts on drums, with guest singers Gina Ricci and Joshua Dixon.
