On December 13, Meg Flather revived her 1993 solo show Portraits as part of Stephen Hanks' Metropolitan Room series NEW YORK CABARET'S GREATEST HITS. Backed by Paul Greenwood on piano and John Mettam on drums, and with Lennie Watts on board as Director to tweak the former show, Meg mesmerized the Metropolitan Room audience with what has been hailed as a critically acclaimed performance, perhaps one of her best ever.

In TheaterScene.net, reviewer John Hoglund wrote: "Flather brought back Portraits [after 23 years] and carried it off with aplomb and a knife-edged professionalism that is missing in many cabaret acts today . . . Flather is dynamic; a terrific mix of intelligence and high energy wackiness who can also break your heart with a gut-wrenching ballad . . . An engaging and totally fun hour."

For Cabaret Scenes.org, Victoria Ordin said: "Flather brings the depth and presence of a stage actress to her interpretations of songs . . . Flather gave an unforgettable performance I will not soon forget."

Now Flather is bringing Portraits to Don't Tell Mama for three shows on Mondays--February 1, March 7 and April 4, all at 7 pm. Tickets are $20 ($15 for MAC Members) and a 2-drink minimum.

Directed by multiple award-winner Lennie Watts (who as a performing contemporary of Flather's saw Meg's original show), Portraits features songs by Joni Mitchell, Janis Ian, Harry Chapin, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Kander & Ebb, and Jacques Brel. Meg is extremely excited about revisiting Portraits. "The original show patter was all from the viewpoint of a 29-year-old," she says. "It's as if this show was foreshadowing my life, as every single song is relevant to all I experienced coming of age in the last 23 years."

Meg Flather is a Backstage Bistro and MAC Award-winning performer (Hanson Award in 2014), and as a singer/songwriter has released six CDs of her original music (all of which are available on iTunes). A fixture on the New York cabaret scene since her first show in 1985, her most recent highly praised show at Don't Tell Mama, Carly & Me, featured songs by Carly Simon mixed with Meg's original tunes. Meg has written and recorded songs for independent films, Off Broadway shows, and on behalf of Alzheimer's, Autism and suicide-prevention awareness. She has also been a featured performer for The Gay Men's Health Crisis at New York's historic Webster Hall, the Vermont Film Festival, and the Tribeca Film and Family Festival. In December 2013, Meg performed her music to benefit the victims of Typhoon Yolanda at the Philippine Consulate. After years serving as a home shopping brand ambassador who had grown sales for PERLIER on TSC, Canada, Aloette on Shop NBC, PRAI on TVSN, Australia, StriVectin on QVC and TSC, Canada, in 2014, Meg released her autobiography, Home Shopping Diva . . . Lessons, Lyrics and Lipstick.
