Pamela Lewis (a.k.a. 'Champagne Pam'), winner of the 2013 BroadwayWorld.com New York Cabaret Award as "Best Female Vocalist," has announced that her new show, New York State of Mind: The Songs of Billy Joel, will open at the Metropolitan Room (34 West 22nd Street, between 5th and 6th Avenues) on January 16 and 17, with both shows at 7 pm.

Being a Long Island native herself, Lewis considers the songs of Billy Joel to be the soundtrack of her life and has been dreaming about performing them since she was a little girl. "I've always treasured Joel's songbook," Lewis says of one of the great pop singer/songwriters of the past 40 years. Pamela's love of her Long Island home, understanding of Joel's Long Island roots, and passion for American popular song make her an ideal performer of this material.

With new arrangements by Lewis with Musical Director Bill Heller on piano, Lewis' husband John Hurley on guitar, Ritt Henn on bass, and Marcus Parsley on trumpet, Pamela transforms Joel's classic songs into a sound of her own.

Directed by well-known British cabaret star Barb Jungr, New York State of Mind will present Pamela Lewis just the way she is-a sassy singer who conveys an on-stage confidence and down-to-earth personality through her smooth, sensual vocals.

Lewis, who for over 10 years has been a lead singer in the most successful band for hire in Long Island, CODE BLUE, revealed herself as one of New York's rising cabaret stars after a run of her 2013 show at the Laurie Beechman Theatre, Daddy's Little Girl.

"Lewis' show was everything an entertaining cabaret show should be . . . warm, funny, intimate, engaging . . . performed by a sultry singer who is totally comfortable in front of an audience and in her own skin. (BroadwayWorld.com)

"Pamela has the potential to be a major cabaret star . . . Personality to burn, a keen sense of humor and compellingly sensual . . . A polished singer with a terrific voice that interprets songs exceedingly well." (Cabaret Scenes Magazine)

"She makes it look easy . . . a performer in full control of her gifts . . . Her pitch and diction are flawless . . . She moves from pop standard to show tune to jazz to rhythm and blues with aplomb." (Bistro Awards website)
