Libra Theater Company presents The Entropy Songs, written by 2011 Jonathan Larson Grant-winner Joshua H. Cohen. The production will play three performances at the Laurie Beechman Theatre on May 4 at 7:00 pm, May 5 at 9:30 pm, and May 8 at 4:00 pm.

In The Entropy Songs, eighteen songs takes a closer look at relationships in various stages of decay and the valiant (and sometimes not-so-valiant) efforts of lovers (and not-quite-lovers) to start a fire or keep one burning. See why love is against the laws of nature... and why most of us do it anyway.

Entropy is directed by MK Lawson, who recently choreographed The Wedding Singer at TriArts Sharon Playhouse and appeared in last season's Bloodsong of Love at Ars Nova. The song cycle is music directed by Jesse Brickel and includes cast members Maddy Clapps, Jennie McGuinness, Jeff Raab, and Ashley Sweetman.

The Entropy Songs received its world premiere at Abingdon Theatre Company in 2006, where it inaugurated the company's new cabaret space. This marks its second full production.

In addition to being awarded a 2011 Jonathan Larson Grant, Joshua H. Cohen is a finalist for the 2010 John Wallowitch Award and the recipient of a 2010 MAC Award nomination. His lyrics (and sometimes music or book) include Maggie the Pirate (Winner, Chameleon Theatre Circle New Play Competition; upcoming Momentum Rep), The Mole (upcoming Emerging Artists Theatre), Tamar and the River (Signature Theatre), Keep On Walkin' (Amas/Actors' Harbor), Speargrove Presents (contributing writer; NY Theatre Barn), Still Life With Toe Shoes (Musical Theatre Society of Emerson College), and The Day the World Went QUEER! (NY Fringe).
