Houston's sultry songbird Kristine Mills returns to the Metropolitan Room, 34 West 22nd Street to premiere "Patch of Green," an all-original set of new songs, tonight, June 27, at 9:30pm. For the late-show inferno, the award-winning singer-songwriter will sing highlights from her upcoming CD, "As Yet Untitled;" the Gold REMI Award-winning soundtrack from "Collector's Waltz," and the Concerts for City Greens song contest semifinalist "Patch of Green."

The show's title tune, "Patch of Green," is one of eight semifinalist songs going head to head this summer in the Concerts for City Greens Songwriting Contest in New York. Kristine performed the song in its first public performance on June 20, as a featured guest of the free outdoor summer concert series at Tudor City Greens.

At the Metropolitan Room, the Houston native is backed by a trio of New York-based musicians, including the emerging pianist Lafayette Harris, Jr.; acclaimed bassist David Dunaway, and the iconoclastic drummer Jacob Melchior.

A two-time Houston Music Press Awards winner ("Best Female Vocalist" in 2009, and "Best Songwriter" in 2010) Kristine has played dates in Miami, Chicago, New Orleans and Rio de Janeiro, and at the Hotel ZaZa, Cezanne's and The House of Blues in Houston. Houston Magazine has said that, "Kristine Mills' pure jazz has become part of the soundtrack of Houston."

Kristine's third and most recent album, "bossanovafied," debuted at #46 on Jazz Week's World Music Album Chart in February 2010. The simmering bossa nova collection of all original songs was recorded in Rio de Janeiro with Rio-based musicians, and was short-listed for a Grammy nomination in the Best Jazz Album with Vocals category. Cuts from the CD made it onto the in-flight playlists of several international and domestic carriers.

Kristine Wrote and produced the songs comprising the soundtrack of Michel Muelle's documentary "Collector's Waltz," which won the Gold REMI Award at the Houston WorldFest Film Festival. The film and companion soundtrack are slated for a fall 2012 release. "As Yet Untitled," her fourth album, is due out February 2013. Both projects feature the Duke Ellington Orchestra pianist and conductor Tommy "TJ" James.

Mills's music charge is $20. For reservations call 212/206-0440. For more information or to order online visit www.metropolitanroom.com.
