Before the age of iTunes, cassette mixtapes served as the soundtracks of our lives: diaries of love, friendship, heartbreak, adventure and musical discovery. Created with care, and shared with our friends, boyfriends and girlfriends, mixtapes were filled with songs that made us laugh, cry, dance and sing along. From Broadway to Britney, singer-songwriters to the American songbook, '80s lite rock to Lilith Fair, Karen Gross revisits and reimagines the songs, the stories, the memories: the mixtape.

"Cabaret Mixtape" is directed by Lina Koutrakos, with musical direction by Rick Jensen, who between them have earned multiple Manhattan Association of Cabarets & Clubs (MAC) Awards among other accolades.

The Metropolitan Room is located at 34 W. 22nd Street (between 5th and 6th Aves.), New York City, NY. Tickets are $25, plus a two-drink minimum.

Called "a queen of sophisticated cabaret with a naughty streak" in the Philadelphia City Paper, Karen Gross seduces audiences with her warmth, wit, and gorgeous, heartfelt voice. One of Philadelphia's most popular cabaret performers since 2005, Karen recently put down roots in New York City to immerse herself in that city's thriving cabaret scene. Karen has been invited to appear as a special guest for celebrated comedian Robert Klein, and she was the featured entertainer at a private party launching the sale of Frank Sinatra's New York City penthouse. She has performed at Lincoln Center; NYC cabaret institutions The Metropolitan Room, the Laurie Beechman Theatre, and Don't Tell Mama; and the Philadelphia area's premier venues including the KimMel Center, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, World Café Live, Sellersville Theater, Tin Angel, and Cabaret at Odette's. Karen is the creator and star of the comedic cabaret show "Sex & the Single Singer," which entertained sold-out audiences for over five years. She also has created a cabaret tribute show to iconic Broadway lyricist Oscar Hammerstein II, which debuted to a sold-out audience at Mr. Hammerstein's longtime home, Highland Farm, in Doylestown, PA (also Karen's hometown). Karen has recorded with three Grammy Award-winning producers: Glenn Barratt, PatRick Robinson, and Jim Cravero. Her music is available on iTunes, www.cdbaby.com, and www.karengross.com.
