54 BELOW, Broadway's Supper Club presents Jake Broder in "HIS ROYAL HIPNESS LORD BUCKLEY" on October 22nd at 9 pm. After spellbinding audiences in a decade of sold-out runs in London, off-Broadway and Los Angeles, creator and star Jake Broder is bringing his critically acclaimed international success HIS ROYAL HIPNESS LORD BUCKLEY to 54 Below.

In his performances, Buckley retold classic tales ranging from the story of Jesus of Nazareth ("The Nazz") to Abraham "Lanky Linc" Lincoln's Gettysburg address in his original "hipsemantic." This largely forgotten counter-culture icon of the 1940's and 50's was arguably the granddaddy of American comedy, doing for comedy what Elvis did for music. His work inspired Robin Williams, Johnny Depp, Bill Cosby, Whoopi Goldberg, George Carlin, Richard Pryor, Lenny Bruce, Bob Dylan and Ken Kesey.

In LORD BUCKLEY, along with a jazz trio led by Mark Hartman and featuring Bradley Russell and Jimmie Young, Jake Broder ("Mozart" in Sir Peter Hall's Broadway and West End productions of AMADEUS) exquisitely re-incarnates Lord Buckley. Along with featured actor Michael Lanahan, Broder transports the audience back to an exciting reimagining of a Buckley performance, a swirling mix of comedy, be-bop and cabaret. TimeOut London raved, "Broder is possessed by the ghost of Lord Buckley and takes you a sonic adventure through the prairies of his delirious mind... Like the man says, 'Believe - it'll blow your wig away!'"

Jake Broder in "HIS ROYAL HIPNESS LORD BUCKLEY" plays 54 Below (254 West 54th Street) on October 22nd at 9 pm. Featuring Michael Lanahan, Mark Hartman, Bradley Russell and Jimmie Young. Produced by Julia Broder. There is a $25-$35 cover charge and $25 food and beverage minimum. Tickets and information are available at www.54Below.com.
