JD Souther Performs Tonight at Cafe Carlyle

An architect of the Southern California sound and a huge influence on modern songwriting, JD Souther has written and co-written hits by the Eagles, Linda Ronstadt, Bonnie Raitt and the Dixie Chicks among many others. On the heels of his highly anticipated new album, Tenderness, JD Souther will perform at Café Carlyle in a one night engagement, tonight, May 9.

The performance will take place tonight, May 9 at 8:45pm. Reservations made by phone at 212.744.1600 are $75 ($125 for premium seating, $45 for bar seating). Café Carlyle is located in The Carlyle, A Rosewood Hotel (35 East 76th Street, at Madison Avenue).

In addition to the aforementioned artists, JD has recorded with jazz luminaries including Stanley Clarke, Donald Byrd and Chuck Domanico. Over the course of his solo career, JD has released eight studio albums, including the 2011 collection Natural History, of which Jazz Times Magazine raved, "Souther proves his work holds up as well as Dylan's, Simon's, or Lennon and McCartney's."

Among various television roles, JD was featured in a recurring role on thirtysomething and more recently in 2012, he was cast as Watty White on ABC's hit show, Nashville. Souther has received countless Grammy nominations, in addition to Academy of Country Music Awards, American Music Awards, 21 ASCAP performance awards, and the prestigious ASCAP Golden Note Award in 2009. In 2013, Souther was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame and recently featured in Vanity Fair's Oral History of Laurel Canyon.
