James Roberts (Hair National Tour) is set to make his solo cabaret debut in James Roberts Can't Afford 54 Below on August 25th at The Duplex Cabaret Theatre at 9:30pm.

In this fully scripted show, James takes a delightfully candid look at his coming of age as a Southern Baptist raised choirboy. Featuring the songs of Amy Winehouse, The Beatles, and Alanis Morissette (among others), James explores early pursuits of love, sex, and happiness. According to press notes "As for the title, let's just say the performer's first choice of venues was unavailable."

The 9:30pm show is written by James Roberts and will feature direction by John Moauro (HAIR Brodway, West End), music direction by Brandon James Gwinn (Small Town Story, Matchmaker Matchmaker I'm Willing to Settle), and Alex Kerckhoff on guitar.

The Duplex is located on 61 Christopher Street (at 7th Avenue). There is a $5 cover with a reservation ($10 at the door) and 2-drink minimum. For more information and reservations, please visit www.theduplex.com or call (212) 255-5438.
