On Monday, November 8, 2010 at 10pm, a cast of Broadway performers will gather to sing songs from '29,' a pop-rock song cycle with music and lyrics by award-winning composer Gaby Alter and book and additional lyrics by Tommy Newman.

Featured in the cast of '29' in concert at Joe's Pub will be Curtis Holbrook (West Side Story, Xanadu), Lindsay Mendez (Everyday Rapture, Grease), Patti Murin (Xanadu), Farah Alvin (Nine, Grease) and Jason "Sweettooth" Williams (Things to Ruin, Bloodsong of Love), with Molly Hager, Lauren Marcus, Jared Weiss, and several additional performers to be announced shortly.

'29' is a high-octane pop-rock song cycle in which characters face defining moments of adulthood: from finding jobs and roommates, to an unexpected pregnancy, a parent's illness and falling in and out of love. As they head out of their twenties, the characters look back at a decade of change and loss, and reach to connect with each other and their real selves. Featuring the popular song "Orphan Thanksgiving," '29' recalls the sounds of Billy Joel, Ben Folds and James Taylor and carries a tone of bittersweet optimism, with moments ranging from playful and funny to touching and uplifting.

Alter and Newman have also collaborated with Gordon Greenberg and Mark Allen on the full-length musical Band Geeks, which was seen in May at the Goodspeed Opera House. Gaby Alter's musical scores have won the 1998 San Francisco Theater Critics' Circle Award and the 2004 New York Fringe Festival Songwriting Award. His song "Union Square" was nominated for a 2010 MAC award. He has written music for PBS Kids Television, radio, film and video games, and the musical Reality! with Itamar Moses (Cape Cod Theater Project, 2008). Tommy Newman is an award-winning composer, lyricist and bookwriter. In addition to Band Geeks and 29, he has also collaborated on Tinyard Hill, presented by NAMT 2007 and Theatreworks Silicon Valley, We the People and The Wizard of Oz, both presented by TheatreworksUSA. He is currently developing several new projects, including The Book of Love with Gordon Greenberg.

The '29' band will feature Alter on piano, with Alec Berlin (Guitar), Danny Stone (Bass), Allison Seidner (Cello) and Jeremy Yaddaw (Drums). The concert is being produced by jokr productions (Joey Oliva & Katie Riegel).
