Broadway Sessions w/ Ben D, the weekly musical theater themed show at midtown nightclub Therapy, continues April 28th with special guests Billy Porter and Shane Scheels of Upright Cabaret.
Billy Porter has appeared in numerous Broadway productions including Grease, Miss Saigon, Smokey Joe's Cafe and Little Shop of Horrors.

He has also starred in the Actors Fund benefit productions of Hair and Dreamgirls. Off Broadway Mr. Porter has appeared in his one man show Ghetto Superstar, Radiant Baby and Songs for a New World. A former Star Search vocal champion, Mr. Porter released a solo album on Universal Records, as well as a live recording titled At the Corner of Broadway and Soul and was featured on the recordings of Hair and Dreamgirls benefiting the Actors Fund as well as the soundtrack to the popular film The First Wives Club. In addition to his many television and film credits, Mr. Porter is also an accomplished director. He currently serves as Artistic Director of Upright Cabaret.

Upright Cabaret is a Los Angeles base d Production Company that features Broadway and TV/Film stars in concert on both coasts. Founded by Chris Isaacson and Shane Scheels, Upright Cabaret recently produced Eden Espinosa in "ME" at Joes Pub and will present "Upright takes Manhattan" at Joe's Pub May 1st through 4th. "Upright Takes Manhattan" will feature a myriad of Broadway talent over the course of three shows: May 1st at 10 pm, May 2nd at 9:30 pm and May 4th at 9:30 pm. Broadway Sessions w/ Ben D is described as an evening of music, games and comedy featuring a new Broadway guest each week. It is hosted by actor Ben Cameron (Wicked, Aida, Footloose). Shows take place every Tuesday evening at Therapy (348 west 52nd street). There is no cover charge for this event. Attendees must be 21 or older with proper id.
