This new show will be all the road rage. The indomitable Baby Jane Dexter premieres an all-new show, "The Rules of the Road," tonight, November 16 at 7pm. For six consecutive Fridays and Saturdays through December 22 Dexter parks herself at the Metropolitan Room, 34 West 22nd Street, with music partner Ross Patterson on piano.

Dexter stops traffic with this incredible line-up of songwriters: Irving Berlin; Cy Coleman and Carolyn Leigh; George Gershwin, as well as Elton John and Bernie Taupin; Peggy Lee and Sonny Burke; Rufus Wainwright and Abbey Lincoln.

"I'm always excited when I discover songs that allow me to bring and share feelings in a new and even more direct way," Dexter relates. To say she moves the audience is probably an understatement. "Overhaul" would probobably be more to the point.

The recipient of six major MAC Awards, two Nightlife Awards, and two Back Stage Bistro Awards, Dexter has performed at an endless array of major venues throught the country, including Reno Sweeney, The Ballroom, Eighty Eight's, Blues Alley, The Kennedy Center and Weill Recital Hall. The Metropolitan Room, which celebrates its 7th anniversary in May, has been her NY base of operations from the beginning.

Baby Jane's "The Rules of the Road" performs six consecutive Fridays and Saturdays from tonight, November 16 to December 22 for a total of 12 shows: Nov 16 & 17, 23 & 24, Nov 30 & Dec 1, Dec 7 & 8, 14 & 15, and 21 & 22. All are at 7pm. The Metropolitan Room is located at 34 West 22nd Street (between 5th & 6th Avenues). There will be a $25 music charge and a two-drink minimum.
