According to Deadline, Zachary Quinto and Brian Cox have signed on for NBC's upcoming miniseries, THE SLAP. The pair join Peter Sarsgaard and Mary-Louise Parker.

THE SLAP is "a complex family drama that explodes from one small incident where a man slaps another couple's misbehaving child. The seemingly minor domestic dispute pulls the family apart, begins to expose long-held secrets, and ignites a lawsuit that challenges the core American values of all who are pulled into it. Quinto will play Harry. Married and with a 15-year-old son, he is a mechanic/dealer specializing in expensive European automobiles who lives with his family in a Brooklyn loft. Always trying to pick a fight, he messes with the wrong guy when he slaps another couple's horribly misbehaving child. Cox will play Manolis, the bearded patriarch of the family."

Quinto rose to prominence for his role as series antagonist Sylar in the Science fiction drama Heroes from 2006 to 2010. He is also known for his portrayal of Spock in the 2009 reboot Star Trek and its 2013 sequel, Star Trek Into Darkness and has appeared in smaller roles on television series such as So NoTORIous, American Horror Story and 24.

In 2013, Quinto played the role of Tom Wingfield in the American Repertory Theatre's production of The Glass Menagerie by Tennessee Williams, which went on to Broadway.
