Adam West, who portrayed the Caped Crusader Batman in the 1960's campy TV series, spoke exclusively to PEOPLE at Comic-Con on Thursday, to share his thoughts on the news that actor Ben Affleck will soon be taking over the role in the new film BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE.

"My feeling is that Ben Affleck will be really good simply because he's a great talent," says the 85-year-old actor. "And I'd be very interested in seeing him in the role."

West also revealed that his favorite part of playing the role was reading the exciting scripts each week. "The best part was just the fun and the laughs when you read the material, and you could really feel it coming to life, scene by scene," West says. "And I think for an actor, that part of the day when something really comes alive and begins to work."

The highly anticipated film will also star Ben Affleck, Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons, Holly Hunter, Callan Mulvey, Tao Okamoto, Ray Fisher, and Scoot McNairy. The DC Comics film will unite the Man of Steel and the Dark Knight for The First Time on the big screen.

Directed by Zack Snyder from a script by Chris Terrio, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will hit theaters in 2016.
