VIDEO: mtvU's HIRE LEARNING: Pres-umes
HIRE LEARNING, mtvU
In this tough economy, two people are facing off for the ultimate job, President. But, who would get the entry-level job: President Barack Obama or Governor Mitt Romney? mtvU, MTV's 24-hour college network, looks for the answer in a special episode of "mtvU's Hire Learning," premiering on-air tomorrow to 750 college campuses, reaching upwards of 9 million students. Check out the clip below!
In "mtvU's Hire Learning: Pres-umes," the network researched President Barack Obama and Governor Mitt Romney's records and created their "entry level" resumes. Next, both candidate's names were changed (Romney became "Robert Miller," while Obama was dubbed "Oliver Brady") and their resumes were shopped around with recruiters to get feedback on who they would hire for a job in this tough economy. The unemployment rate for people between 18 and 29 is 12 percent in the U.S., nearly 50 percent above the national average. Yet, according to MTV research, 90% of Millennials believe that they deserve their dream job. The network's new series, "mtvU's Hire Learning," uses hidden cameras to capture job interviews of current students and recent graduates, highlighting the candidates' dos and don'ts. The approach may be comedic but the lessons learned are valuable and real.
