Netflix, in association with The Weinstein Company and Endemol, announced that the critically acclaimed, sweeping gangster series "Peaky Blinders" will launch exclusively on Netflix in the US. All six episodes of season one will debut at 12:01am PT on September 30, and season two will launch in November.

"'Peaky Blinders' captivated audiences in the UK with its compelling storylines, powerful performances and stunningly beautiful imagery, and we cannot wait for our US audience to experience the series for the first time on Netflix," said Ted Sarandos, Chief Content Officer at Netflix. "We are thrilled to add this must-see series to our roster of exclusive content in the U.S."

"Peaky Blinders is a richly creative, deeply engaging series that will have the perfect home in the U.S. on Netflix," commented Harvey Weinstein, co-chairman The Weinstein Company. "We're sure American viewers will be seduced from the very first moment."

"We are thrilled to have viewers discover 'Peaky Blinders' on Netflix in the US, quickly becoming known as the preeminent destination for audiences to find and enjoy quality programming from around the world," said Cathy Payne, Chief Executive, Endemol Worldwide Distribution.

A gripping drama, "Peaky Blinders" takes place in 1919 Birmingham, England, and follows the Shelby family, who lead the title group -- a feared gang named for their practice of sewing razor blades into the peaks of their caps. Until now they have made money from illegal bookmaking, protection and the black market, but when a crate of guns from the local arms factory falls into his possession, Thomas Shelby (Cillian Murphy) recognizes an opportunity to move up in the world. As rival gangs, communist revolutionaries and IRA Fenians descend on the city in pursuit of the weapons, Winston Churchill dispatches a ruthless police chief (Sam Neill) from Belfast to impose order on an increasingly lawless city and recover the guns.

Delivering "magnetic performances at every turn" (Metro UK), the series stars Cillian Murphy ("Inception," "The Dark Knight Rises"), Sam Neill ("The Tudors," "Jurassic Park"), Helen McCrory ("Hugo," "Harry Potter,"), Annabelle Wallis ("Snow White and the Huntsman", "The Tudors"), Paul Anderson ("The Firm"), Iddo Goldberg ("Secret Diary of a Call Girl") and Charlie Creed-Miles ("Wild Bill"). Tom Hardy ("Inception", "The Dark Knight Rises"), Noah Taylor ("Charlie and the Chocolate Factory", "Game of Thrones") and Charlotte Riley ("Edge of Tomorrow") join the cast for Season 2. Created and written by Steven Knight ("Dirty Pretty Things", "Eastern Promises").

"Peaky Blinders" is executive produced by Knight, Caryn Mandabach, Greg Brenman, Jamie Glazebrook, Frith Tiplady. Will Gould joins as an executive producer on season two. The series is a Caryn Mandabach Production and Tiger Aspect Production for BBC Two.
