Richard Schlesinger and 48 Hours investigate the death of Angel Downs, a beautiful real estate agent who was found face-up in front of her home dead from a shot to the head, on Mother's Day 2010, in "POWER AND PASSION" to be broadcast April 13, 2013 (10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Was it a suicide or was she murdered by her boyfriend, Steven Nodine, a married, powerful politician? The 48 Hours investigation uncovers a tale of love, politics, power and adultery in what was one of the most controversial Alabama cases in recent memory.

"There's a lot of theories out there, but I know when I have to meet the Lord God Almighty, I can stand up there and say I did not shoot, harm or hurt Angel Downs in any form or fashion," Nodine tells 48 HOURS.

"I was adamant, her friends were adamant. We're all adamant," says Downs' younger sister, Susan Bloodworth. "It was not suicide. Steven killed Angel."

At the time of Downs' death, Nodine was a well-liked politician in Alabama with connections in Washington. Though married and the father of a young son, Nodine dated Downs for six years. Friends and family say Angel wanted him to get a divorce, but he refused to give up his double life. Their lives together took a turn on May 10, 2010, when, after Nodine says he dropped Downs off at her condo, she ended up dead in her own driveway from a single gunshot - fired from her own weapon.

Two weeks after the death, Nodine was indicted for murder. But did the district attorney, with a re-election vote a week and a day away, have enough to convict Nodine? Were politics involved in charging Nodine with murder?

Schlesinger and the 48 Hours team piece together Downs' life and Nodine's story through interviews with Downs' family, her neighbor who heard a gunshot, Nodine, his attorney, and prosecutors. 48 HOURS: "Power and Passion" is produced by Allen Alter and Avi Cohen. Anthony Batson is the senior broadcast producer. Susan Zirinsky is the senior executive producer.
