Kathy Griffin turned to social media today to apologize for posting a video which featured a bloody severed head of President Trump. Following strong criticism from both Republicans and Democrats, the comedian initially posted on Twitter "OBVIOUSLY, I do not condone ANY violence by my fans or others to anyone, ever! I'm merely mocking the Mocker in Chief." She also removed the offending image.

However the backlash continued throughout the day and even prompted an investigation by the Secret Service due to its violent nature. In the video shared on Facebook today, Griffins shares: 'I am sorry. I went too far. I was wrong'

Yesterday, Anderson Cooper, Griffin's longtime co-host of CNN's New Years Eve special, said he was 'appalled' by the graphic image, describing it as 'clearly disgusting and completely inappropriate.'
