As BWW reported yesterday, retail giant Walmart has claimed that comedian Tracy Morgan is partly responsible for the injuries that resulted from an accident this past June because he wasn't wearing a seat belt.

Morgan broke his nose, leg, and several ribs in the six-car accident involving his limo bus. Comedian James McNair 62, of Peekskill, was killed and two other men were seriously injured. The bus was struck from behind by a Wal-Mart truck. The 35-year-old Kevin Roper has pleaded not guilty to one count of death by auto and four counts of assault by auto.

In response to Walmart's claim, Morgan released the following statement yesterday: "After I heard what Walmart said in court I felt I had to speak out. I can't believe Walmart is blaming me for an accident that they caused. My friends and I were doing nothing wrong. I want to thank my fans for sticking with me during this difficult time. I love you all. I'm fighting hard every day to get back." (Source: THR)

In further developments, the New York Post reports that Morgan's attorney, Benedict Morelli has revealed that the actor and comedian may never fully recover from the horrific accident that landed his client in the hospital in critical condition.

Asked whether Morgan would be able to resume his performances, the lawyer replied, "The jury's still out. The doctors don't know the answer. I don't know the answer." He went on to share that the 30 ROCK star continues to do daily rehab routine and works with a therapist on his speech and cognitive and physical functions.
