Tim Blake Nelson to Appear in 'Modern Family' Season Premiere

Modern Family's past guest stars have included Lin-Manuel Miranda, Nathan Lane and more. In this season's premiere on September 21, Tim Blake Nelson will play a cowboy, according to Digital Spy.

Nelson has appeared as an actor in the film, TV and theatre. He also narrates the 2001 audiobook At the Altar of Speed: The Fast Life and Tragic Death of Dale Earnhardt, Sr. He has appeared on stage at theatres including Manhattan Theater Club, Playwrights Horizons and Central Park's Open Air Theater.

He has directed film versions of his plays The Grey Zone, and Eye of God as well as writing and directing two original screenplays: 1998's Kansas, and 2009's Leaves of Grass. He is also the director of O, based on William Shakespeare's play Othello. He is on the Board of Directors for The Actors Center in New York City and Soho Rep Theatre.

Modern Family is an American comedy television series. The half-hour series, which was created by Christopher Lloyd and Steven Levitan, is produced by 20th Century Fox Television and largely presented in a mockumentary style.
