Telemundo's FUTBOL ESTELAR Averages 1.7 Million Viewers

The live "Fútbol Estelar" broadcast of the Torneo Clausura soccer final match featuring León vs. Pachuca on Thursday, May 15 at 9PM ET, delivered 1,726,000 total viewers and 991,000 adults 18-49, becoming the highest-rated Liga MX 2014 playoff match aired in Spanish-language television, according to Nielsen. Narrated by Deportes Telemundo's team of soccer experts, Andrés Cantor, Sammy Sadovnik and Carlos Hermosillo, the match reached a cumulative audience of 3.8 million total viewers. The León-Pachuca final also was the most watched show in its time period in the cities of Los Angeles and San Francisco among adults 18-49, regardless of language. The highly anticipated match was the first ever Telemundo-mun2 simulcast in Spanish, delivering an additional 192,000 total viewers and 172,000 adults 18-49 in mun2.

Five goals were scored in this breathtaking match that resulted in a 3-2 victory for Pachuca, the visiting team. Telemundo recently acquired the rights to broadcast Club Pachuca home games in the US market, making the 2014 Clausura Tournament the perfect segue to the 2014 Opening Tournament beginning in July. Regardless of the result of this final series, Telemundo will be the home of Mexico's soccer champs in the next tournament.
