Telemundo Media announced today the appointment of veteran marketing and communications executive David Alvarado as Vice President of Entertainment Publicity. Alvarado is based in Miami and will report to Alfredo Richard, Senior Vice President of Communications and Talent Strategy.

In his role, Alvarado is responsible for leading the publicity efforts for Telemundo's alternative and prime time programming and productions, as well as working closely with Telemundo's talent department to strategically position Telemundo's prime time stars across electronic, print and online media platforms. He is in charge of developing cross-functional efforts in partnership with Telemundo Studios and the non-scripted production teams, as well as the execution of internal cross promotions efforts among Telemundo Media's network shows, stations, affiliates, digital media, and the NBCUniversal properties. Alvarado will oversee publicity strategies for all network program launches including press events and tours aimed at maximizing exposure and visibility for the Telemundo properties across multiple media outlets.

"David brings to the Communications team a deep understanding of the Hispanic market and audience across the country," said Richard. "His arrival reinforces and is consistent with the fact that we are the Hispanic Hollywood and hold the largest roster of Spanish-speaking stars in the U.S. Hispanic market. His proven track-record and extensive marketing and publicity experience within the music and entertainment industry, make him a great addition to our team."

Alvarado joins Telemundo Media from EMI Music/Capitol Latin, where he served as the Vice President of Marketing & Promotion since 2009 and created marketing and public relations strategies for the company's roster of Latin superstars Selena, Juan Luis Guerra, Alejandra Guzman, Zoe, Belinda, Pablo Alborán, A.B. Quintanilla, Shaila Durcal and Joey Montana. During his tenure, Alvarado spearheaded the promotional launches of Selena and Juan Luis Guerra's Platinum and Gold selling albums and Alejandra Guzman and Guerra's #1 Billboard ranking radio singles. He secured brand partnerships with Corona, Coca Cola and Acura for Joey Montana and lead highly visible publicity campaigns for Pablo Alboran, resulting in a Latin Grammy nomination and performance on the show.

From 2006-2009, Alvarado started 1810music, a consultant firm whose clients included Warner Music Latina's Maná, Luis Miguel, Alejandro Sanz, Laura Pausini, Jesse & Joy, Jeremias and Paulina Rubio among others. Alvarado successfully launched Paulina Rubio's Billboard charting "Gran City Pop" album and accompanying tour--the highest grossing of her career--and developed Rubio's brand partnership with a perfume company. From 2004-2006, Alvarado was Rubio's personal manager at Link Tours, Inc. where he also worked with Christopher Stewart (Tricky), Ric Wake, Diane Warren and Roger Sanchez and increased the company's revenue by securing brand sponsorships with Andrea Shoes and Ron Pomalca. He also worked at Universal Music Latino from 1999-2004 as Senior Product Manager, where he handled several highly visible campaigns and marketing executions for Paulina Rubio, Luis Fonsi, Enrique Iglesias, Juanes, and Andrea Bocelli.
