Telemundo Deportes Airs Spanish-Language Coverage of FIFA CONFEDERATIONS CUP RUSSIA, 6/17

This Saturday, June 17, Telemundo Deportes kicks off more than 200 hours of exclusive Spanish-language coverage of the FIFA CONFEDERATIONS CUP RUSSIA 2017 with the broadcast of the Opening Ceremony, hosted by Andrés Cantor and Maria Celeste Arrarás, live from the Saint Petersburg Stadium at 9 a.m. ET. Telemundo's morning show "Un Nuevo Día" will precede the Ceremony with Rashel Díaz and Daniel Sarcos broadcasting live from Russia alongside Telemundo Deportes' experts. The Opening Ceremony will be followed by Telemundo's preview show "Hoy en la Copa Confederaciones" at 10 a.m., hosted by Ana Jurka from Miami, Miguel Gurwitz and Carlos Hermosillo from Kazan, and Sammy Sadovnik and Copán Álvarez from Moscow, and the opening match featuring the host country Russia against New Zealand. Cantor will call the game alongside Manuel Sol.

The Opening Ceremony will feature the sound of Igor Stravinky's famous Russia ballet, "The Firebird," and a colorful presentation of Russia's traditions, history, culture and nature, with a special focus on the four cities hosting the tournament: Saint Petersburg, Kazan, Sochi and Moscow. With more than 1,500 performers involved, the opening ceremony will also showcase unique visual elements and the appearance of wolf Zabivaka, the Russia 2018 Official Mascot.

The action continues on Sunday, June 18 with Mexico's first match against Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal. Live coverage begins at 10 a.m. with "Hoy en la Copa Confederaciones," hosted by Jurka and Gurwitz alongside Cantor, Hermosillo, and Sol who will also call the action. El Tri team arrives to Russia after two important World Cup Qualifiers that have kept the team at the top of the CONCACAF chart, and in solid position to qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™. The team will feature a strong roster of stars including Rafa Marquez, Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez, Hector Herrera, Andres Guardado, Gio Dos Santos and Carlos Vela.

Chile's Confederations Cup debut is also Sunday, June 18, against Cameroon. The match will air live following Portugal vs. Mexico; Sammy Sadovnik will call the game alongside the analysis of Copán Álvarez and guest analyst Claudio Borghi. Chile joins the action with its best roster of players, including Premier League's stars Alexis Sánchez and Claudio Bravo.

Telemundo's extensive coverage will continue through July 2. All matches will air live on television, 14 on Telemundo and two on Universo, and streamed via TelemundoDeportes.com and the Telemundo Deportes EN VIVO App. Universo will also re-air all matches every night in primetime. The broadcasts will be supplemented by special pre and post-game programming, a nightly recap show, daily editions of "Titulares y Más," and news and analysis on TelemundoDeportes.com. In addition, Telemundo's news and entertainment shows will broadcast from Gorky Park in Moscow, and different locations across Russia through the duration of the tournament.

Since 2005, the FIFA Confederations Cup has been held in the nation that will host the FIFA World Cup™ the following year, in this case Russia. The tournament is played by eight teams, including the six FIFA Confederations Champions, the host country and the winner of the previous FIFA World Cup™. The Mexican national team will play against Portugal, New Zealand and Russia in Group A. Group B will showcase Germany, Chile, Australia and Cameroon.
