Take 5 Productions Garners 18 CSA Nominations for VIKINGS, THE BORGIAS, WORLD WITHOUT END

Today, the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television announced the nominees for the 2014 Canadian Screen Awards (CSA) and Take 5 Productions, an industry leader in high-quality international television production, received a record 18 nominations for The Borgias, Vikings, and World Without End. The Canadian Screen Awards recognize excellence in film, television and digital media productions and will be presented in a live broadcast on Sunday, March 9, 2014.

"We are honoured by the number of nominations our projects have received this year. The recognition by our peers and the acknowledgment that we are producing great television with Canadian artists is of great importance for us," said John Weber of Take 5 Productions. "We congratulate all of our colleagues on their incredible talent and creativity which have earned them a CSA nomination."

The third season of the The Borgias, broadcast by Bell Media, was honoured with seven nominations including Best International Drama (John Weber, Sheila Hockin, James Flynn, Neil Jordan); Best Direction in a Dramatic Series for Kari Skogland; Best Photography in a Dramatic Program or Series for Paul Sarossy; Best Sound in a Dramatic Program or Series for Tattersall Sound and Picture-Andrew Jablonski, Andy Malcolm, Brent Pickett, Dale Sheldrake, David McCallum, Goro Koyama, Jane Tattersall, Kirk Lynds, Martin Gwynn Jones, Martin Lee, Yuri Gorbachow; Best Visual Effects for SPIN VFX - Adrian Sutherland, Ahmed Shehata, Amanda Lynn Hollingworth, Chris Ankli, James Chretien, Jordan Nieuwland, JP Giamos, Luke Groves, Peter Giliberti, Wojciech Zielinski; and Best Performance by an Actor in a Continuing Leading Dramatic Role for François Arnaud.

Vikings, which premiered on HISTORY Channel/Shaw Media in Spring 2013 to record numbers, garnered six nominations including Best International Drama (John Weber, Sheila Hockin, Michael Hirst, James Flynn, Morgan O'Sullivan, Alan Gasmer, Sherry Marsh); Best Direction in a Dramatic Series for Ken Girotti; Best Photography in a Dramatic Program or Series for John Bartley; Best Picture Editing in a Dramatic Program or Series for Aaron Marshall; Best Visual Effects for Mr X-Bill Halliday, Dennis Berardi, Dominic Remane, Jim Maxwell, Julian Parry, Maria Gordon, Michael Borrett, Ovidiu Cinazan, Paul Wishart, Wilson Cameron; and Best Performance by an Actress in a Continuing Leading Dramatic Role for Katheryn Winnick.

World Without End, an eight-hour series based on Ken Follett's best-selling sequel to Pillars of the Earth and broadcast on Showcase/Shaw Media, amassed five nominations including Best International Drama (Rola Bauer, John Weber, Tim Halkin, David W. Zucker); Best Sound in a Dramatic Program or Series for Tattersall Sound and Picture-Colin Ritchie, Dale Sheldrake, Dave Fritz, David McCallum, Erik Culp, Jane Tattersall, Martin Gwynn Jones, Paul Conway, Scott Shepherd, Steve Foster, Steve Hammond; Best Costume Design for Mario Davignon; Best Achievement in Make-Up for Anna Tesner, Balázs Novák, Colleen Quinton, Julia Valente; and Best Original Music Score for a Series for Mychael Danna.
