TUCKER & DALE VS. EVIL Director in Talks for Amazon's ZOMBIELAND Series

Related: ZOMBIELAND, Amazon

As previously reported by BWW TV World, Amazon has picked up the rights to the highly-anticipated ZOMBIELAND television series, based upon the 2009 comedy/horror film. According to Deadline, TUCKER & DALE VS EVIL director, Eli Craig, is in talks to direct series.

In addition, ZOMBIELAND's original writers, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, are set to return to write/executive produce the series. Gavin Polon, who produced the film, will also be back onboard, the site reports.

A casting call went out on the series a few weeks ago, proving nay-sayers wrong that the series - which was originally offered to CBS in 2011 after the film was made - was dead. From the release, it was believed that the project, which will follow the film's characters in a 30-minute format, would be shopped to the other major networks. Instead, Amazon seized the material in hopes of amping up its instant video lineup of original series.

Should the series move to production under Amazon Prime's instant viewing service, it's believed that the pseudo-network would order fewer episodes than the standard 22.

ZOMBIELAND told the story of an off-beat kid trying to reach his parents in Ohio following a zombie outbreak. The film starred Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone, and Abigail Breslin.
