Award winning indie darling 'The Little Tin Man' opens theatrically in New York City today, October 3, 2014 at the Williamsburg Cinemas. Set for a day-and-date release, the film will be simultaneously launching on multiple Video On Demand platforms including iTunes, Amazon and GooglePlay

Funded through Kickstarter, the film is written and produced by Matthew Perkins & Dugan Bridges and marks Perkins' directorial debut. The story follows the plight of Herman, a struggling dwarf actor (newcomer Aaron Beelner) who is tired of being typecast and overlooked for bigger roles. He sets out to be cast as the Tin Man in Martin Scorsese's remake of 'The Wizard of Oz.' The film also features the lead acting debut of Kay Cannon (Writer of 'Pitch Perfect,' 'Pitch Perfect 2,' 'New Girl', '30 Rock') as Miller, Herman's average-sized best friend. Jeff Hiller ('Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson,' 'Bright Star,' 'Love's Labour's Lost'), Greg Hildreth ('Cinderella,' 'Peter & the Starcatcher,' 'Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson') and Chris Henry Coffey ('Bronx Bombers') also star alongside many hilarious favorites from the renowned Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre.

'The Little Tin Man' has been well received on the film festival circuit, earning awards such as the Audience Award for Best Narrative Feature at the Napa Valley Film Festival and the Indie Spirit Award at the Naples International Film Festival.

"The story is a thought provoking metaphor. Every actor has felt rejection at some point but for our main character (and lead actor), he can't turn that off when he walks out of the audition room," said Writer/Director Matthew Perkins. "I truly hope that this film can shine a spotlight on the little people community. They deserve to have a voice."

Aaron Beelner is a man with dwarfism who began his acting career as a teenager. At 4'3", Beelner describes himself as a "father, actor, and entertainer who has been performing for close to thirty years." He is also a popular motivational speaker. Aaron met Writers Matthew Perkins & Dugan Bridges while they were students at the University of Georgia in 2004. They became intrigued with his story and crafted a semi-biographical script based on his experiences as a little person.

Kay Cannon began her career in acting and improv before becoming a writer on '30 Rock' for six years. She then joined the staff of 'New Girl' as a writer/producer. Kay is most well known for penning the pop culture phenomenon 'Pitch Perfect.' Cannon recently wrote the upcoming sequel, 'Pitch Perfect 2,' which stars Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson and Hailee Steinfeld; directed by Elizabeth Banks.
