Syfy's new competition series Wizard Wars proved magical in its premiere, conjuring up over one million total viewers on Tuesday, August 19 from 10-11PM (ET/PT).

The series also averaged 573K Adults 25-54, 552K Adults 18-49 and 240K Adults 18-34.

Last night's premiere highlighted two young illusionists, Chris Funk and Ekaterina, who created a fresh card trick that managed to wow Penn of the legendary magic duo Penn & Teller.

Next week's all-new episode on Tuesday, August 26 at 10 p.m. ET/PT features bright young magicians Eric Buss of Tuscon, AZ, Mattias "Famous" Ramos of Los Angeles, CA, Murray SawChuck of Las Vegas, NV and Rob Anderson of Baltimore, MD. Their challenge is to take doggy snacks and turn the everyday object into a world-class illusion.

Each episode of Wizard Wars begins with two teams of magicians going head-to-head with a limited amount of time to create an original routine. The winning team will then enter "The Wizard War" and compete against the expert "home team" of world-renowned "Wizards" to battle it out for bragging rights, and a $10,000 prize.

Two-time World Championship of Magic winner Gregory Wilson, Wynn Resort resident magician Shimshi, Youtube sensation and contemporary street illusionist Justin Flom, and internationally renowned mentalist Angela Funovits will compete as the home team. These masterful performers and magic creators cover every discipline in magic from sleight of hand to large-scale stage illusion.

Joining the legendary Penn & Teller on the judging panel is the 2012 winner of The BBC's The Magicians, Jason Latimer, and popular web host Christen Gerhart.
