SundanceTV and the Irish Consulate of New York will partner to present the U.S. premiere of REBELLION, an epic story based on the 1916 Easter Rising, on Sunday, April 24th as part of the New York Irish Consulate's "Ireland 2016 Centenary Programme."

The first episode of "Rebellion" will be screened at 2:45 and 4:30 PM ahead of the miniseries' premiere on SundanceTV that same evening at 8/7c (check local television listings). The programme, a ticketed-only event, will be held at Pier A Harbor House in Battery Park to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the Easter Rising in Dublin.

"Rebellion" will continue its three-night run on SundanceTV's air on Monday, April 25th and Tuesday, April 26th at 9/8c.

"Rebellion" begins with the outbreak of World War I. As expectations of a short and glorious campaign are dashed, social stability is eroded, and Irish nationalism comes to the fore. The tumultuous events that follow are seen through the eyes of three young women and their families, lovers and friends from Belfast, Dublin and London as they play vital and conflicting roles in the narrative of Ireland's independence. Some prioritize family loyalties; some are motivated by the noblest of ideals, some by opportunism; others take up arms, prepared to sacrifice everything for the dream of a better society and true independence.

"Rebellion" is produced by Touchpaper Television and Zodiak Media Ireland for RTé, in co-production with SundanceTV, and is written by Colin Teevan ("Silk," "Vera"), directed by Aku Louhimies (Frozen Land) and produced by Catherine Magee. The cast includes Brian Gleeson (Snow White and the Huntsman, THE BACHELOR Weekend), Charlie Murphy (Philomena), Michelle Fairley ("Game of Thrones"), Ruth Bradley ("Humans," Best Actress IFTA for Grabbers) and Sarah Greene ("Penny Dreadful"). The executive producers are Rob Pursey, Jane Gogan, Colin Teevan, David Crean and Clare Alan.
