Deadline reports that Stephen Tobolowsky has signed on to star opposite Justina Machado and Rita Moreno in Netflix's upcoming reboot of the Norman Lear classic comedy ONE DAY AT A TIME.

Written by Gloria Calderon Kellett and Mike Royce, the 13-episode project will center on Cuban-American Penelope (Machado), "a recently separated former military mom who is navigating a new single life while raising her radical teenaged daughter and socially adept tween son, with the "help" of her old school Cuban-born mom and a friends-without-benefits building manager named Schneider." EGOT winner Moreno takes on the role of the grandmother.

Tobolowsky will portray Penelope's boss Dr. Berkowitz, described as "the widowed lead doctor where she works and a potential love interest for Abuela (Moreno). Penelope keeps his office in order and often his personal life, too, because he is a sweet disaster."

Tobolowsky will soon appear on the upcoming season of HBO's Silicon Valley. He also can be seen on ABC's The Goldbergs.
