What's more, the digital-only Deluxe Edition will add an additional exclusive track from Tegan & Sara (see tracklisting below).
As if all that weren't enough, "GIRLS - VOLUME 1: MUSIC FROM THE HBO® ORIGINAL SERIES" features songs spanning contemporary pop, rock, dance, and indie, performed by such iconic artists as Belle & Sebastian, Robyn, Fleet Foxes, and The Vaccines. The album also includes tracks from a number of today's most intriguing new artists, including Oh Land, Harper Simon, and Icona Pop, with the Deluxe Edition adding such critically acclaimed acts as Sleigh Bells, White Sea and Generationals.
"Music is such a huge part of my creative process," explains Girls creator Lena Dunham. "I make playlists to write by and listen to as I head to set in the morning, and I experiment in editing with songs that the characters would love and that accurately reflect their struggles. Girls' music supervisor Manish Raval and I are crazy about everything from the pop that teen girls devour to the niche indie rock from days of yore. To collaborate with Fueled by Ramen and so many artists who inspire me on this compilation is a dream."
"GIRLS - VOLUME 1: MUSIC FROM THE HBO® ORIGINAL SERIES" has been specially compiled by the series' music supervisors, Manish Raval and Tom Wolfe -- known for their work on such popular TV shows and films as Community, Happy Endings, New Girl, Raising Hope, Donnie Darko, Jackass Number Two, and many others -- and Grammy Award-winning soundtrack producer Kevin Weaver (Boardwalk Empire, True Blood - Volumes 1 & 2).
Created by and starring Lena Dunham (Tiny Furniture), Girls is a comic look at the assorted humiliations and rare triumphs of a group of girls in their early 20s. Dunham executive produces along with Judd Apatow and Jenni Konner. The cast also includes Jemima Kirke, Allison Williams, Adam Driver and Zosia Mamet.
