At last night's Creative Arts Emmy Awards, long-running singing competition AMERICAN IDOL was honored with a special Governors Award. While accepting the trophy, series creator Simon Fuller hinted that plans are already underway to bring the show back to FOX in 2018.

"It's been 15 years, and this is the first Emmy we've actually won for the show. Can you believe that?" said Fuller, who went on to address FOX Broadcasting CEO Dana Walden saying,"Dana, thank you for bringing the show back in 2018. We can't wait to make it."

Fuller also thanked the thousands of Idol contestants and many judges who appeared on the show through the years, as well as Fox's former President of Alternative Entertainment Mike Darnell, and the show's Simon Cowell, Ken Warwick and Nigel Lythgoe. He also gave a nod to IDOL host Ryan Seascrest, who was passed over last night as winner of Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality-Competition Program. Turning to Seacrest, Fuller further teased a return of the show, saying, "See you in 2018, mate."
