Michael Shiffman has been promoted the position of vice president, content strategy, SPORTSCENTER and News, by ESPN, effective immediately.

In his new role, Shiffman directs the Planning and Bureau teams for ESPN's signature news and information program SPORTSCENTER and leads in coordinating the coverage of all big events that SPORTSCENTER attends. He also is focused on SportsCenter's ever-expanding presence within ESPN digital platforms and products.

Shiffman reports to Rob King, senior vice president, SPORTSCENTER and News.

"Mike has always demonstrated tireless energy and creativity in driving creative content across all of our shows," said King. "Over the last two years, our entire operation has become smarter, more nimble and more connected as a result of Mike's focus on strengthening our planning and communication. We look forward to him expanding his contributions in this new role."

Before being named senior coordinating producer of strategic content and coverage in 2014, Shiffman, who joined ESPN in September 2000, was senior coordinating producer for SportsCenter, overseeing both the day-to-day and long-term content planning across all editions of the show.

Prior to that, the three-time Sports Emmy Award-winning SPORTSCENTER producer served as the program's 11 p.m. ET producer (September 2002-June 2006) and coordinating producer (January 2007-June 2008), and as senior coordinating producer for the 11 p.m. and 1 a.m. (July 2008-April 2011) and 9 a.m.-3 p.m. (April 2011-October 2012) editions. Additionally, he was coordinating producer of NFL PRIMETIME (September 2006-February 2007).

Shiffman was a producer for CNNSI in Atlanta (October 1996-October 1999) and for NBATV in Secaucus, N.J. (October 1999-September 2000) before joining ESPN.

Shiffman is a native of Stamford, Ct., and a graduate of Miami (Ohio) University.
