Sequel to Animated Comedy SHAUN THE SHEEP MOVIE in the Workds

According to Deadline, Aardman and Studiocanal will reunite for a sequel to the 2015 animated hit comedy SHAUN THE SHEEP. Richard Starzak who collaborated on the first film will helm the project with pre-production set to begin in January.

The Shaun character made his debut in the 1995 short film "A Close Shave." He then appeared in his own stop-motion animated TV series that was first broadcast on the BBC's CBBC in 2007. Shaun The Sheep Movie received an Oscar nomination in the Best Animated Feature category in 2016 and grossed over $106M worldwide.

According to the site, the sequel will center on Shaun and the flock for what's described as "another epic and hilarious journey, in what will be their biggest and most exciting adventure yet."

The film's official site shared a message announcing news of the upcoming sequel which reads:

We have BIG Shirley-sized news for Tuesday...Shaun the Sheep is getting a second movie!

Shaun the Sheep Movie 2 will be directed by Richard Starzak and produced by Paul Kewley, the team who brought you Shaun's original Oscar-nominated movie. Pre-production will commence January 2017.

Although we can't say too much at this stage, we can tell you that Shaun and the Flock will all be back in another epic and hilarious journey, in what will be their biggest and most exciting adventure yet!
