Seeso, the premier comedy streaming destination, today announced a partnership with the International Rescue Committee (IRC) to aid in the refugee crisis worldwide. As part of the agreement, a portion of all March 2017 Seeso subscriptions will be donated to the IRC. Additionally, Seeso will be raising awareness and money for IRC on its service, social media channels and at all Seeso events at SXSW in Austin Texas (March 11-14).

"Seeso sells laughs. We wanted to take that small joy, and channel some of it into aid for those who most need it right now. It's the worst refugee crisis of our generation - it's time to stand up," said Ben McLean, Head of Business and Operations for Seeso.

The IRC responds to the world's worst humanitarian crises, helping people to survive, recover and reclaim control of their future, providing medical care, life services and education for millions of people each year.

"The IRC has a long, proud history of partnering with the entertainment industry, and we are thrilled to add another chapter to that story with this partnership," said Lauren Gray, head of corporate and foundation partnerships for the International Rescue Committee. "We look forward to working with Seeso to raise awareness and funds for the 21 million refugees around the world who desperately need our help."

According to the The UN Refugee Agency, an unprecedented 65.3 million people around the world have been forced from home. Among them are nearly 21.3 million refugees, over half of whom are under the age of 18. There are also 10 million stateless people who have been denied a nationality and access to basic rights such as education, healthcare, employment and freedom of movement.
