A younger version of PR mogul 'Samantha Jones' is headed to THE CARRIE DIARIES.

The CW announced today that SEX AND THE CITY's Jones (originally played by Kim Cattrall) will hit the New York scene for season two on the one-hour prequel series. As of now, no one has been cast as the infamously free and promiscuous character.

As part of their upfront announcements, the younger-skewing network also confirmed that the series, lead by AnnaSophia Robb as 'Carrie Bradshaw,' will move to Friday nights in the fall, airing at 8:00 p.m.

The CW's official description for THE CARRIE DIARIES' second season is as follows:

"It's the summer of 1985, and, for the first time, 17-year-old Carrie Bradshaw (AnnaSophia Robb) can call Manhattan home. After her boyfriend Sebastian (Austin Butler) and best friend Maggie (Katie Findlay) betrayed her, Carrie is happy to accept the offer to spend the summer living in the downtown loft apartment of her Interview magazine boss Larissa (Freema Agyeman). But as summer turns to fall and Carrie heads into her senior year, she and her friends and family discover that letting go of old loves and embracing new dreams comes with some tough new realities but also incredible new opportunities. Based on the novels "The Carrie Diaries" and "Summer and the City" by Candace Bushnell, The Carrie Diaries is from Fake Empire in association with Warner Bros. Television, with executive producers Amy B. Harris ("Sex and the City," "Gossip Girl"), Josh Schwartz ("Hart of Dixie," "Gossip Girl"), Stephanie Savage ("Hart of Dixie," "Gossip Girl"), Len Goldstein ("Hart of Dixie") and Candace Bushnell."
