SNL Vet Maya Rudolph to Front Variety Show on NBC

Deadline reports that Saturday Night Live vet Maya Rudolph is poised to get her own variety show pilot that will air as a special after the upcoming Winter Olympics on NBC. The comic will also serve as executive producer along with Lorne Michaels, Erin David and Dave Becky.

Reports of the project first surfaced back in February 2013 when Rudolph's NBC comedy 'Up All Night' Tanked in the ratings. The series was set to take a break before returning in its new incarnation as a multi-camera show filmed in front of a live audience. However those plans soon unraveled leaving Rudolph as a free agent and available for future pilot offers. However, she chose to turn them down and instead, pursue her own variety show. Looks like she made the right choice!

Rudolph rose to prominence on Saturday Night Live, where she was a cast member from 2000 to 2007. She has also starred in a number of films such as Idiocracy (2006), Away We Go (2009), Grown Ups (2010), Bridesmaids(2011), and Grown Ups 2 (2013). She starred as Ava Alexander in the NBC sitcom Up All Night from 2011 to 2013.
