Mashable.com reports that Dwayne Johnson aka The Rock is rumored to star in a film called Jungle Cruise, based on the classic Disney Adventureland jaunt. At the Magic Kingdom, riders spend 10 minutes floating past exotic flora and fauna, plus a politically incorrect band of headhunters.

Johnson is currently recording vocals for Disney's upcoming animated feature Moana, a musical about a plucky teen voyaging across the South Pacific. Johnson plays Maui, a demi-god.

Apparently, Disney's been trying to make a Jungle Cruise movie for at least 10 years. Most recently, Shrek writer Roger S.H. Schulman was tapped to write a version that would star Toy Story duo Tom Hanks and Tim Allen.

The addition of Johnson means that this newest Jungle Cruise iteration may lean more toward action than comedy - especially since Disney has also hired FOCUS scribes John Requa and Glen Ficarra to pen its script. Reportedly, the movie's also a period piece now, while the Hank/Allen version would've been set in the 21st century.
