Rosie O'Donnell Responds to Hasselbeck's Harsh Comments on Twitter
Earlier this week, former VIEW co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck had called in to FOX AND FRIENDS to share her displeasure over the recent report that O'Donnell would be coming back to the show. "What could ruin a vacation more than to hear news like this?" she began. "Talk about not securing the border. Here comes to The View the very woman who spit in the face of our military, spit in the face of her own network and really in the face of a person who stood by her and had civilized debates for the time that she was there."
Hasselbeck also claimed that O'Donnell's return to The View was "in the works for a long time." "She walked around with a lot of control [at The View reunion show] and when I got a chance to talk with her, Rosie herself told me on set while we were mic'd up that she produced the reunion show to have everybody together and it was her idea," she toldFOX and Friends. "Would you think that the women who left the way that she did would be producing Barbara Walters' goodbye show? Now here's the shocker, it was actually her 'Hello' show."
According toThe Hollywood Reporter O'Donnell broke her silence by tweeting some short responses to Hasselbeck's harsh words.
On Wednesday evening, Rosie tweeted that Hasselbeck's words were "shocking". Responding to their conversations during the recent reunion of The View co-hosts, O'Donnell writes, "she was hiding in her dressing room-til i walked right in and said hello-her reply LETS TAKE A SELFIE !!"
In regard to Hasselbeck's harsh criticism of Rosie's lack of support to U.S. servicemen, O'Donnell writes, "think she has donated any money to the armed services ???? Hmmmmm"
While neither O'Donnell nor ABC have confirmed reports that the funny lady will return as a co-host, when one use wrote "@Rosie was a true progressive voice on The View during a very non-progressive time in our country. Soooo glad you're back," O'Donnell replied "thank u" and did not dispute the mention of her return.
The former host even shared her opinion on who she would like to see as a 'View' co-host. When one user wrote, "Please consider Martha Plimpton for the View." O'Donnell replied simply, "I would love that."
Last night, former View co-host Joy Behar also weighed in on Hasselbeck's comments, which she called 'below the belt." Find out more here!
