Rick Schroder to Star in Upcoming Fox Drama Pilot

As first reported on Deadline.com, actor Rick Schroder has joined the cast of the currently untitlted Fox/20th TV drama pilot. The project was written by Karyn Usher and will be directed by Brett Ratner. The actor joins previously announced cast members Angela Bassett and Saxon Sharbino.

The pilot will follow the life of Jane Forsythe (Sharbino), described as "the orphaned 14-year-old daughter of a CIA operative (Schroder) who encounters a mysterious rogue agent (Julian McMahon) who serves as her professional mentor in the spy world." 

Schroder made his film debut in the 1979 remake of the movie The Champ, winning the Golden Globe Award for Best New Male Star of the Year in a Motion Picture at the age of nine. He became well-known as the star of the television series Silver Spoons and later went on to co-star in the Western mini-series Lonesome Dove and its sequel, Return to Lonesome Dove.  He appeared in the NBC police drama NYPD Blue for three years and was featured in the Fox series 24.
