Rapper 50 Cent Visits CBS SUNDAY MORNING Today

Rapper and entrepreneur 50 Cent knows that despite his multiple successes in the music and business worlds, there will still be people who will see him as a thug, he says in an interview for "The Money Issue" edition of CBS SUNDAY MORNING WITH CHARLES OSGOOD to be broadcast today, March 24, 2013 (9:00 AM, ET) on the CBS Television Network.

"I don't mind that," he tells Tracy Smith. "They don't matter. Those are the people... they didn't support me to begin with."

Born Curtis Jackson in Queens, N.Y. to a single mother who made a living selling drugs, 50 Cent had a rough childhood. His mother died when he was 8 and he moved in with his grandmother. By the time he was 12, he was selling drugs. He was nearly killed in 2000 when he was shot nine times. Music, he says, was his way out of trouble.

So far, he's sold more than 32 million CDs. 50 Cent has been able to parlay that success into other business ventures such as books, clothing, movies, boxing and water. For instance, he says he's been able to sell $300,000 worth of headphones during a 10-minute appearance on QVC.

The rapper, who earned a reported $60 million as an investor in Glaceau Vitamin Water when it was sold to Coca-Cola, is behind a new energy drink where some of the profits are going to a United Nations food program. And now, he tells Smith, he's back in the studio working on his first CD in three years.

"I like what it feels like," he tells Smith of making music again. "It feels like magic. Feels like magic to create something that is just my idea."
