A first look at the elaborate new production of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's celebrated fairy tale-themed musical INTO THE WOODS playing at renown Paris playhouse and opera venue Theatre du Chatelet is now available to view.

Additionally, a behind the scenes featurette showcasing a discussion with acclaimed conductor David Charles Abell is now available, as well.

The official description and cast list of Theatre du Chatelet's INTO THE WOODS is as follows: "In a show structured around the famous essay by psychoanalyst Bruno Bettelheim, Stephen Sondheim gives us his interpretation of various fairy tales: Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Magic Beanstalk... audiences at Le Châtelet, however, aren't in for the standard trip down the nostalgic lanes of childhood. The Theatre du Châtelet has announced the full cast for its upcoming production of Sondheim's Into the Woods. The company includes Kimy McLaren as Cinderella, Leslie Clack as The Narrator, Nicholas Garrett as The Baker, Christine Ox as The Baker's Wife, Beverley Klein as The Witch, Pascal Charbonneau as Jack, Damian Thantrey as Cinderella's Prince, David Curry as Rapunzel's Prince, Jonathan Gunthorpe as The Steward, Francesca Jackson as Little Red Riding Hood, Rebecca de Pont Davies as Jack's Mother, Louise Alder as Rapunzel, Elisa Doughty as Florinda, Lucy Page as Lucinda, Scott Emerson as Cinderella's Father, Kate Combault as Cinderella's Mother, Jasmine Roy as Cinderella's Stepmother, Fanny Ardant as the voice of The Giant, Dorine Cochenet as Snow White, and Cecilia Proteau as Sleeping Beauty. Puppeteers include Dorine Cochenet, Cecilia Proteau, Claire Vialon, and Valentin Johner, and the production is presented alongside the Chamber Orchestra of Paris. All these tales are played out in the forest, a traditional setting for age-old feats that metaphorically represents, in this case, a society in which people of various ages, origins and conditions are encouraged to rub shoulders and try and live together. There is no moralising stance in this work, but the author casts a human eye on our illusory quest for happiness, where humour and pastiche are ever present in the shape of songs inspired by nursery rhymes and tales in which we find the inimitable hallmark of Sondheim."

INTO THE WOODS runs April 1 through 12 at the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris.
