Producers Guild of American Honors Mark Gordon with 2015 Norman Lear Achievement Award Tonight

The Producers Guild of America (PGA) announced today that prolific television and film producer Mark Gordon will be honored with the 2015 Norman Lear Achievement Award in Television. The award will be presented to Gordon at the 26th Annual Producers Guild Awards ceremony tonight, January 24, 2015 at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in Los Angeles.

'Rarely do we come across an entertainment powerhouse who not only raises the bar for the standard of television, but changes the landscape of the industry altogether. Mark Gordon is that powerhouse, whose vision has brought us some of the most essential television shows of our time, such as 'Grey's Anatomy,' 'Criminal Minds,' 'Army Wives' and 'Ray Donovan,' said Producers Guild Awards Co-Chairs Todd Black (THE PURSUIT OF HAPPYNESS, A KNIGHT'S TALE, THE EQUALIZER) and Ryan Murphy ('The Normal Heart,' 'American Horror Story,' 'Glee,' 'Nip/Tuck'). 'Through Mark's abiding passion for storytelling and his profound impact on contemporary television, he truly lives up to this award's namesake. We are so pleased to honor him this year with the Norman Lear Achievement Award in Television.'

The 2014 recipient of the Norman Lear Award was Chuck Lorre. Previous recipients include J.J. Abrams, Don Mischer, Dick Wolf, Jerry Bruckheimer, John Wells, Lorne Michaels, David L. Wolper, Don Hewitt, Garry K. Marshall, Aaron Spelling, Steven Bochco, David E. Kelley, Mark Burnett and Norman Lear, himself.

'I couldn't be more excited to be honored with this award from my friends and colleagues at the Producers Guild. Television is a wonderfully collaborative medium, and I have been lucky to work with so many talented people, all of whom have helped make this award possible,' said Mark Gordon.

About Mark Gordon:

Mark Gordon is an award-winning producer with more than 75 motion picture and television projects to his credit.

In television, Gordon's company recently announced that their latest project, 'Benched', a courtroom comedy for USA network, will premiere on October 28th. Currently, Gordon serves as an executive producer on ABC's 'Grey's Anatomy,' CBS' 'Criminal Minds' and Showtime's 'Ray Donovan.' He is a five-time Emmy nominee and two-time winner. He also won a Golden Globe for his work on 'Grey's Anatomy.' Some of his other television credits include 'Private Practice,' 'Army Wives' and 'Reaper.'

Gordon's upcoming motion picture endeavors include the untitled Steve Jobs biopic written by Academy Award winning screenwriter Aaron Sorkin, and ARMS AND THE DUDES starring Academy Award nominee Jesse Eisenberg and Shia LaBeouf. Past film credits include SAVING PRIVATE RYAN (earning him Academy Award and BAFTA nominations and a Golden Globe win for Best Picture), 2012, THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW, SPEED, SOURCE CODE, THE MESSENGER and THE PATRIOT. As executive producer and financier, Gordon's credits include TOMB RAIDER, WONDER BOYS, THE PAINTED VEIL, SIMPLE PLAN and PRIMARY COLORS, to name a few.

Gordon is the Co-Founder of Career Sushi, a website dedicated to changing the hiring process for interns and entry level job seekers. Career Sushi currently has over 12,000 companies and over 150,000 users.

As the President Emeritus and former President of the Producers Guild of America, Gordon spearheaded the establishment of The Producer's Mark. He currently serves on the board of The Archer School for Girls, and his served on the boards of The Virginia Film Festival, Chrysalis, The Motion Picture and Television Fund and The UCLA Lab School. He is the former chairman of Teach for America Los Angeles and the founder of Citizens of the World Charter Schools, which currently serves over 1500 students in 5 schools in Los Angeles and New York. Gordon is a graduate of NYU Film School.
