Photo Tribute: Ed McMahon Remembered

To remember McMahon, BWW Photographer Walter McBride has assembled a collection of his favorite photos that he was honored to be able to take of the beloved television personality.

The former "Tonight Show" sidekick had been plagued with various health problems lately, including bone cancer. In 2007, the announcer fell and broke his neck, which prevented him from working. Since then, he had a series of public financial problems. Recently, he made news for the foreclosure on his home.

Born in Los Angeles, McMahon began his TV career at WCAU-TV in Philadelphia. He went on to host a variety of game shows in the 1950s, until he met Johnny Carson on the set of "Who Do You Trust?" The two left the show in 1962 and the rest is now television history. McMahon appeared on Broadway in The Impossible Years in 1965.

McMahon is survived by his wife and five children. His son Michael died in 1995.
