Vanity Fair has released images from the cover of their first-ever Comedy Issue, hitting newstands this January. In the special issue, the talented writer, director and producer Judd Apatow has recruited some of the greatest names in comedy to recreate famous figures from television's earliest eras. Check out the images below!

Among the many comedians participating in the spread are Leslie Mann as 'Laugh In's Goldie Hawn, Melissa McCarthy as Lily Tomlin’s Edith Ann and Paul Rudd, currently starring in 'Grace' on Broadway, as the host of the ground-breaking 1960's variety show.

Vanity Fair editor GrayDon Carter commented, “It can reasonably be said that the comedy industry is booming these days, in movies, on television, and onstage. And who better to oversee an entire issue on the subject than one of the great impresarios of the business? . . . Judd was a terrific collaborator, brimming with suggestions and infectious energy—precisely the sort of high-wattage, Hollywood-style enthusiasm that can alternately excite you and drive you a bit crazy.”
